If you don’t want to use the latest version from subversion, but the latest stable version, this script may interest you:

It’s designed to run without interaction on Linux as a cron job. It will also backup your database and email the root user if WordPress is successfully updated.

Hi, this looks very useful! Couldn’t you use svn export instead of removing the .svn separately?
